Our favourite places to swim in Australia

New in the studio is Places We Swim, a book by Caroline Clements and Dillon Seitchik-Reardon compiling Australia’s most beautiful beaches and swimming holes.

We've put together a short list of five personal favourite spots to swim from the book:

yamba places we swim

Yamba Main Beach, NSW

Starting with a spot close to home. We love the quaint feeling of Yamba, the fact it’s still slow and sleepy and not over developed. Main Beach is one of its most beautiful attractions. Walk down steep bitumen to reach the shore lined with Norfolk Pines and hugged by ocean cliffs where the iconic Pacific Hotel sits on top, overlooking the bay. The perfect spot to laze all day with a book, catch a wave or swim laps in the 33m ocean pool.

wineglass bay places we swim

Wineglass Bay, Freycinet Peninsula, TAS

The faded sepia hues of Tasmania’s drier climate makes for such a romantic landscape. Curving and sinuous, Wineglass Bay is one of the most impressive bays in the region. Powder white sand contrasts the cold radiant turquoise of the Indian Ocean, promising one of the freshest dips on this list and a hike we've been dreaming to take.

point addis places we swim

Point Addis, Anglesea VIC

Along the great ocean road you’ll find Point Addis, a protected marine park home to consistently calm waters that are inviting for swimmers and beginner surfers. The dramatic red cliffs add a beautiful warmth to the otherwise subdued and overcast Victorian backdrop. It's this very coastline that inspired the initial hues of Hakea.

edith falls places we swim

Leliyn, Nitmiluk National Park, NT

Cascading waterfalls and deep pristine pools along the Edith River enclosed by red cliffs and boulders makes Leliyn one of the most unique swims in Australia, especially in contrast to the usual white sand beach. After falling in love with the Northern Territory when capturing our 'Sunset In The Outback' campaign this ochre water hole was a must for our list.

Blue Pool Bermagui places we swim

Blue Pool, Bermagui NSW

There’s something magic about an ocean pool. Especially ones surrounded by rock pools you can peak into, like little windows into a micro world of seaweed and small creatures. Surrounded by reef and honey coloured rocks, Blue Pool is one of our favourite swimming holes to laze nearby or swim laps.
